Day 14

Checked out Venice Beach today. Saw everything from a guy who picked up a whole oven/cooktop and held it in the air by putting one corner of it in his mouth and balancing it, to some homeless woman who held a sign saying “Kick my ass for $3.95”. Lots of market stalls, people everywhere, and all the big black dudes hustling on the basketball courts. The houses along the beach are pretty cool too! There was some tryhard Australian restaurant called “The Outback Shed” which sold these things called “Growlers”, and touted them as the staple food of the Australian diet. They were basically a pie filled with all sorts of disgusting ingredient combinations like broccoli and other vegetables, but instead of being round and sealed, they chop about one third of the pie off so it’s open ended. “We have Sausage Rolls too!” the waitress yelled at us as we left laughing after seeing the menu… We also stopped at a “Krispy Kreme Doughnut” store at Long Beach on the way back. Krispy Kreme make what is the epitome of the American donut – so we bought a dozen assorted ones (from plain glazed, to chocolate with custard filling) and they are delicious! That’s dinner sorted then, might go and grab another one now. Can’t make me feel much sicker than I already feel from eating them (but they taste sooooo good!).

Coincidentally, the Long Beach Police Station is right next door the the Krispy Kreme store. Concidence? I’ll let you decide…
